Sock Searcher

 

Sock Searcher provides a front end search interface to a number of national and global lists that assign taxa with various conservation designations. The database is built upon the list of species as presented by the JNCC in the publication "Conservation Designations for UK Taxa" with a number of additions.

Conservation lists include:

• The Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985
• IUCN Red List
• Rare and scarce species
• Biodiversity Action Plan Lists
• Bern Convention
• Bonn Convention
• Birds Directive
• Habitats and species directive
• EC Cites
• Birds of Conservation Concern

• Marine mammals protected by the CITES
• Sphagnum mosses on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan list
• Pluvialis species recognized under the Birds Directive
• Designated click beetles
• Insects listed on Annex 4 of the Habitats and Species Directive
