» Microsoft & Patents

FromMicrosoft:

"Patents as knowledge-sharing tools may seem counterintuitive at first. After all, patents do give their owners the right to exclude others from using a technology. But even in this case, denying use is very different from denying to others the knowledge of the new technology, which patents by law are required to disclose."

Whats the point of knowledge if you can't use it?

Carphone Warehouse laptop

Who the hell thought that this was a good idea? Am I the only one that can see that stick getting snapped off when you go over a speed bump in a double decker bus?

Why doesn’t someone invent aninternal port so we don’t have stupid sticky-out things on the sides of our laptops? Oh wait someone already has

The usb stick is the first thing to go when the laptop meets a sticky end. I wonder how much a computer repair firm would charge to extract the snapped connector? And repair the board that the dongle plugs into.

It just screams nick me. One minute your surfing the net, the next minute bang and dirt is gone. So much for mobile internet from the Carphone Warehouse.
